It's Time to Terminate the H1B Visa Program

In this edition, Dr. Veltmeyer calls for ending the H1-B Visa program as part of President Trump’s decision to halt temporarily legal immigration into the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He points out how this program has cost the jobs of more than 2.7 million Americans between 2007 and 2017 and that every year more than 100,000 foreign workers arrive here to take jobs from similarly or better-qualified American workers. Profit-hungry corporations like Facebook, Google, HP, and Apple prefer foreign tech workers to Americans because they can pay them less. In many case, Americans are forced to train their replacements from India, Communist China, or Vietnam. He argues that it’s time for American policymakers to stop taking direction from the Business Roundtable and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and act in defense of the jobs and livelihoods of American workers.
